Has anyone any experience using thread sealants for brake or fuel lines? In my youth these were considered taboo but now it seems there are new products that may actually work. Are they worth using?

A properly maintained brake system should not leak. But if you choose to seal brake bleed screws, then Teflon Tape is the usual choice. Cut to fit and wrap (no more than 2x)in oppisite direction of threading.

Sounds like things haven't really change since my mis-spent youth, then... that's more or less the conventional wisdom of my elders & betters back then....

i use a little teflon on the bleed screw threads, to help seal them up when i use my mitivac. i do NOT use it on the sealing surfaces, only the threads themselves.
