I'm thinking about buying a TR6 from a friend of mine whose had it for a couple years, and is tired of putting money into it. He had put $3,000 into after he bought it for $8400. He is selling it for about $6000. It has never been restored though, and needs the following things mechanically: It has had 2 bent rims which have been unbalanced, causing it to need a new trailing arm, which I can get for free from my boss. It also needs 2 new rear rims. The front and the back tires/rims need to be aligned, and may need some minor front suspension work. We guess that the engine currently has about 50,000 miles on it, and could probably use a rebuild, but doesn't have to have one. My boss says that engine rebuilds are good for about 70,000 miles before it needs another one. The engine runs perfectly fine and smooth, but isn't making as much power as it could. I work at an LBC shop, so there would be no labor fees, as I would be doing the work myself with the guidance of the head honcho. This car I'm looking at is excellent cosmetically, the interior is great, and has only very minor surface rust in a small spot in the engine compartment. Nothing major is wrong with it, and I get the peace of mind of knowing that most of the major crap has been ironed out of it buy the PO. Below are some pictures of it from last fall. Needless to say, the engine compartment isn't nearly as clean, but the exterior paint is still just as good. Would you buy it, assuming you were looking for a TR6?
