The thrill of the hunt...

Yeah, those automatic bidder setups kind of spoil the moment. Still think there are bargains to be had there, but a lot of annoying times like you experienced too.

Be honest now - anyone one else where addicted to tracking down LBC "deals" to a point where it almost becomes an obsession?

If you wanted an honest answer to that you should have posted it on the "Significant Other of LBC Owners Forum" not this one

"anyone one else where addicted to tracking down LBC "deals"
So what else are we supposed be doing up here all winter ....

Im Jones'n to buy something new for my TR6', its running to well,

whats gunna go wrong next!?

Yeah, there's enough stuff stashed up in the garage roof to choke an elephant.

Why I'd ever need three spare steering wheels has got me tossed.

Viv.

How many of you blokes recall when there was no internet, and thus it was far more difficult to keep up with this hobby as we do today???

I remember maintaining an active cadre of LBC gearheads, literally spanning much of the east coast, in order to purchase and keep cars running: a mechanic in NC; a former Triumph dealer in VA; gearhead friends in Richmond, a fellow enthusiast in SC, etc.

In the "dark" ages before the internet, I know of many cars that went to the scrap heap because parts could not be found. Parts that today, we can have in our garage by UPS in a couple of days!

Wow, aren't things different today?? How many more beautiful Triumphs are on the road right now, literally because of the internet and websites like this one?

The internet: love it or hate it, but it makes our hobby/obsession possible.

Yup, the net is wonderful indeed. brings so many like minded people together like nothing else in history. As for Ebay, every time I miss a "deal" I always figure it was for the best. Every time I've fought and won, it was always a so-so deal in the end. Now I bid extremely casually, if I get it I'm pleasantly surprised. It's kind of annoying to see the same stuff being recycled time and time again, how many Original GT6 hubcaps, one in rough condition , can there be out there??

Repeat after me "I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. I will not search e-bay for more parts. "

There's always craig's list!!

So Fortune, does that mean that you don't obey she who must be obeyed?

Now-a-days it seems like most junkyards wont let you do anything yourself anymore because of Insurance policies. Sure takes the fun out of scrap yard diving.

I agree! :iagree:

Now a days every little part is catogorized and in the computer, back then theyd say "ya I thinks theres some little cars out back bring yer tools!"
