The Tank Saga begins

I just dropped off the gas tank on the E. Once the shop gets it cleaned out and relined I will be doing the outside with POR15. Can't wait- another small milestone.

Got the newly cleaned out and re-lined tank back home. Now just waiting for the POR15 to arrive so I can do the outside of the tank! Can't wait to get it done and installed!

I would spray with DP Epoxy primer and top coat in 60% black DCC. Just my 2p.

Ive already ordered the POR15. Have seen pics of the same tank done in POR15 and it looks nice!

I have not used POR15 for a number of years. The main reason being that you have to appy with a brush, and spraying was not done due to the curring time.
Last time I used it was on a James Young Bentley chassis, and brushing was the best given the limited space.

Yes, brushing is the way it is applied. I was concerned about brush marks showing up, but a friend sent me some pictures of the EType tank he did with POR15 and it is self-leveling and he had no brush marks. Looked pretty good in fact.

Looks good from here! I believe that there should be black plastic covers over the fuel line tabs that are bent over the line?

Yes, the tabs over the fuel line are supposed to have black plastic covers. It looks like in this picture the tan covers are there but were painted over. I replaced the covers on the tabs with new black sheaths on my car.
