I have one that I would like to use instead of the standard cork gasket but it appears that I will need to fasten it to the valve cover. What product can I use to do this...something compatible to the silicone?

I am using two of these on my TR4's. I do not fasten them to ether side. I will admit that they are the older /original style that has an outer ridge that may well help to keep in it place.

Karl,
I use Permatex Ultra Gray and attach it to the valve cover letting it sit on a granite counter until it cures. It gives a dead level gasket that does not leak. I also use a touch of grease along the edge that contacts the head to create a better seal.

I believe the Ultra Gray is silicone based and will bond to the gasket. I would avoid sealants that are not silicone. Tom
