The prettiest british car ever...

Beauty is as beauty does!

Sooooo......the original Austin Mini.
The *least* tarted-up car ever "styled".

And, in my view, the most purely good-looking sports car ever built is ~A French Car~. .

AC before cobra. Healey 100. Aston Martin 60s DBs, and subjective to a fault..TR4a surrey with minilites.

OK....I've been thinking about this question for a couple days now & I'm still not sure.

This 59 Cooper Monaco sure looks nice.

Wow! I like the Monaco... looks like it even has a road registration. Chalk another one onto my want list.

That's the nice thing about old school sport racers.

The Lotus eleven, Cooper & Lola MkI are ALL road "legal".

Think you wouldn't get far in a 23C or Elva Mk8 before getting pulled over. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That relegates some of the most beautiful cars to being track only /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

All the lola pictures I could find were MKIII's but I found a really nice one that is now my wallpaper. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There's no argument here. E-Type, bar none, hands down. It exudes sex. There has never been a motorcar like it - before, since or after.

Hey David,
Here is a pic of that Cooper you mentioned. Not only a Pretty face but a pretty engine as well. A Coventry Climax.

First time I actually saw one was PVGP this year.

Yea It is as nice looking as the OSCA 750 or the Ferrari 500 TRC.

Rather odd transverse spring set-up.
Also....59 was pretty darn early for rear engine.
BTW....Watch out when you Google "climax"

I'm guessing it took Lola, Elva & Lotus until 1964 ish to do that.

59 was pretty early for a rear engine set up. The before mentioned XJ13 did it in 66 but the difference was it was a 12 cylinder engine. The Cooper of course was a 4 banger.

This is one very sexy car.

Darn totally forgot all about the Marcos (any model)

Rains mounted and the lid off'n a square-cut gearbox...

"Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end..."

*sigh*

The Europa is not normally thought of as a pretty British car but, this one ain't half bad. It's a Type 47 Gold Leaf Racer.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif I'm down with that.

I like some of the choices above, especially the Aston and Lotus Elite, and early MGs, but here's my selection.

A.C. Ace, from which the Cobra was derived, for best roadster, very closely followed by the Healey 3000.

For best closed car, E Type fhc, (better than the roadster, and MGB GT, a beautiful car that everyone overlooks because it is familiar and was mass produced.
Simon.
