Is there a set length in inches that this rod should be if everything in the linkage is set up properly and the slop in the joints has been fixed. Also what adjustment would need to be made if the link rod hits the firewall before it should....adjust the link rod at the firewall or adjust the lever(81) and link assembly(83) at that end. Does the link assembly have a spec for length as well?

Asking Google: Triumph TR3 throttle link rod length.
The answer:
On a Triumph TR3, the main horizontal throttle link rod from the firewall bellcrank is about 345 mm (approx. 13.5 inches) long, and the short vertical/carb linkage rod is about 95 mm (approx. 3.75 inches) long.

Linkage Details & AdjustmentAdjustment Threads: Both rods feature generous threading on each end, allowing you to fine-tune the length.

Setup Method: There is no single rigid factory measurement for exact adjustment due to component wear. Instead, adjust the threaded rods so that the carburetors reach full throttle opening just as the accelerator pedal hits the floorboard stop.

Front Carb Linkage Note: Users on the British Car Forum reach a consensus that the short connecting rod from the bellcrank to the front carburetor sits at roughly a 60-degree angle, which can look misaligned but is entirely normal. You may need to push the short link down and away from the body of the carburetor to prevent rubbing before tightening the clamp.
