When does the subscription thing go into effect? I'm planning on buying mine for Idgy's Birthday on March 17. (Actually that's the day of his first drive one year ago. He was purchased on March 19, two years ago for my birthday) So, next week guess what I'm buying for Idgy and me!

I'm not sure if the subscription system does that automatically or not. If not I'll track it myself and send out a note if necessary.

It is in effect. Just go to "My Stuff" >> Subscriptions.

There is NO limit for posts - no matter what level you are at. The limits are for Private Messages and number of attachments you can attach to a post, file size you can attach to a post, etc...but just posting in the forum there is no limit to that at all.

Well, I hope they do...I'm looking forward to reading about their cars.
 
You should add a column to the user list showing member status. It might be another area that helps in getting members to sign up for a membership if they see it there.

about it. I don't really understand what one is.

A simple analogy would be a journal. A web journal can be more multimedia oriented with pictures, music and video. Here is a good example , though there are enough blog pages linked together here to qualify as a website.

I have`nt been on this thd for a couple of days & I just wanted to say; Its nice to see that it has "Cooled Down" a bit!

So Basil; Have you achieved "Your & the BCFs" desired goal? What is the total subscribed membership outlook at this stage? Is the BCF (As well as Yourself) alive and well for years to come?

BAsill...the subscription aspect just doesn't trip my trigger but I love to buy collectables like the T-shirts, calendars and mugs...I'm getting the itch for a ralley. Would it be possible to create another rally with a say $5.00 entry fee that could be used to fund the awards
and hopefully your efforts....just a thought!!!
 
I just came from another popular site that has an administrator who doesn't care about keeping members in check and enforcing the rules like this one does. This site is a breath of fresh air and deserves to live on no matter what you decide to do Basil. It's sort of like having a child. Once you bring it into the world you can't take it back! Please don't shut it down. :laugh:

Basil, how are we doing as far as keeping things as they have been in the past? It seems to me that a lot of other members have signed up for one paid membership or another. Hopefully all is well and the BCF will remain as is. Just curious, naturally.

Initially, the first couple of weeks, there was a good burst of members subscribing, but it is slowed considerably. What I'm hoping is that it will pick up again in the coming months. Thinks overall look good though.

I've only read part of this thread...I myself have not spent as much time on this site as I use to...not because it is not a terrific site...but I'm just doing other things...but for the most part...I have to agree with some of the items that I read...this is a great source...and there are many resources available here...

While I was active in the site Basil you have often mentioned closing down for one reason or another...believe me...I really can understand why...and the frustration and love this project gives you...

Since this is a discussion only...my question is why not consider selling? Over the years you constantly mention that this is not an option? I wouldn't give it away, but why not accept a "great" offer...and allow your "baby" to continue...why just turn it off? (just curious to see your response)...

This site is really irreplacable!
 
well Basil ever since I have been using BCF I have wondered how it worked . I am unware of any such service which comes free, and it is an excellent service; I welcome the 'free' bit but fail to see how it can be sustained. I visit weekly and rarely do not extract a piece of valuable ifo. ( I flatter my-self in that I may have even helped some one ). Your forum is like an ongoing lecture and ,as happens so often at a lecture, the question period generates an equal amount of interest ---- the many answers and leads from these answers is , in my opinuon the great value of BCF. Yes ,says Basil , very nice, but where does this all lead to : my answer would be take away the FREE bit and ask us to be members or pay you in some way for the service.Do not shut down else wheels will be falling off and motors spluttering World wide and I will miss my weekly admiration for Dave Russell and Co.
 
I'm new here but I've already noticed that there's not much traffic compared to other sites. The lack of activity is a turn off and doesn't bode well for the site. When I make posts I want responses. So far that's barely happened. I think you need to do something to up the membership and participation. Everyone should pitch in $25 or $50 bucks to help the endevor and make a sacrifice for the good of the site.
