Maybe your banana is just shy in the presence of a fox.

Mickey's banana has been shy in the presence of a fox since 1972!     :cryin:

   All of my bananas are dancing. No firefox here though.

Did I just hijack my own thread? Ok, lets get back to the topic...I'd like to get some more feedback on the proposed subscription levels I proposed a few posts ago.

HERE IT IS AGAIN

Bottom line, Basil, with all the great ideas offered in this thread, no matter how you decide to go/restructure etc., for heavens sake make sure that you are not adding an additional to your work-load and subsequent stress and strain on yourself to what you already do for us!! i.e. Basils comfort level FIRST!!

THEN, whatever else!! :savewave:

(I think you will find the $25 membership will suit most of the people who have been involved in this thread so far, myself included, with maybe upgrades in the future, like when I figure out how to run/set up a personal site or have the need to blog!!)

Since I don't need a blog or web hosting, looks like Silver would work for me.

Couple of questions:

1. Would you have an icon to show the level of membership? I don't know that there's be a need for one...especially the blog & web hosting ones because...

2. Would the blog or web site url be incorporated in, say, the avatar area?

&, lastly, when can we start sending $$$'s?

I fixed it...my banana was only set to gyrate a set number of time and fire fox for some reason doesn't like animated .gifs that are only set to loop for a set period. So I re-did that .gif to loop indefinitely and now it dances for me in fire fox.

  :banana:And they call it mellow yellow, quite rightly!! :jester:

Dang Basil, you went OT on your thread AGAIN!

Looking at the spread sheet you did, I'd suggest lowering some of the stuff for the free membership. I.E. PM's in the 5 range. Max attachment size 75k.

Well, what I could do is make the user name a custom color and add "Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc" as a custom title. Would like to hear what other think of that, or would people prefer to have no indicator what people's level is? I could understand the argument for either way, Maybe a poll is in order?

No, but there is no reason a person could not add the like to their signature.

Well, first I have to get more feedback from folks to see how they feel about the whole idea, then it will be a simple matter of setting up the subscription mechanism and explaining how to use it..

Looks like most of it is done already.

Not completely...need to finalize what features for which levels of subscription and settle on price....that's why I'm soliciting feedback.

Since moderators' names are already a different color, were you to do anything, maybe a little icon of some type - but not a star!

I vote for the words "Silver or Gold Member" under an avatar - sorta lke what you did in your avatar areae avatar. except under th.

....sounds like a poll is the way to go.

Kinda Like I just did for yours as a test?

Hey! has Tony paid yet? Two things I though of while walking for my afternoon coffee. Maybe there should be a provision for a pro-rated upgrade? Also, and probably more important, deals with the blogs. I would guess that the same rules would apply as in the forum? I.E. no politics and such. Whatever your policy would be, I'd think that should be apparent at the time of signup. People might feel more righteous if they are paying for a blog.

Basil, I echo the vast majority of sentiments expressed. You have my continued support for whatever your decision is. I am entirely ok with the membership levels you have identified. I would hope that you keep the ability for members to donate funds as they wish, outside of fees.....the "cost" in my time saved by the priceless advice found here is tremendous.

Although I do admit that identifying membership level by the dollar is a hard one to get my arms around. You have very accurately hit on value level currently correctly by number of posts.

As with most fundraising adventures there is always room for supersponsors, or by whatever name, and I think some usefulness for donations otside of membership that would be only known to you.....many folks prefer under the radar.

No, Tony has not paid, but then all he has is the Silver Member name only but none of the actual features

If you're paying for a blog or a web site, I don't care what you do with it as long as its legal (except pornography - that I will NOT allow on my server ever, legal or not). I would "hope" that most folks here, if they had a blog, would want to blog about their families and/or their British cars, but of they want to blog about politics, or stuff other than family and cars I'm ok with that even if they are complete Moonbats, just as long as it stays OFF the forum. I'd probably ask they not link to political blogs in their sigs though. Same for Web Sites I think. You're right I should make it clear what, if any, restrictions there would be.
