I've been rather busy lately with work and volunteer activities so have not had much time on the forum. On top of the job and NAMI, we recently undertook a major kitchen re-modeling project (long overdue!). I saved a bit of money by doing the demolition of the old kitchen and getting everything ready for the new kitchen myself. I did the demo a week ago. The new cabinets were delivered (in boxes) a week ago Wednesday and the installers came out the following Thursday the 3rd (July) to open the boxes and do a cabinet inspection. We were to have had the install begin this Monday, 7 July. I say "were to have had" because, as luck would have it, there was some damage to the cabinets as delivered - some minor, but one of the 36" three-drawer base cabinets was very badly damaged (looks like it was dropped hard).
All those components had to be re-ordered and the install has now been moved back to 21 July! Once the install of the cabinets is done. I have to install and hook up the new cast iron kitchen sink. Then, the countertop guy has to come out and measure everything for the new counter tops - then a week later, will come back to install the new counter tops. In other words - we get to camp out for another month with no kitchen!
I spent the 4th celebrating by patching plaster, painting and laying tiles (the old cabinets were on the slab with 13x13 tiles in the kitchen up to the cabinets. Now I have to tile the areas where the old cabinets were so that the new cabinets will sit on tile instead of on the slab. I hope this looks good when I'm done because I'm not doing it again in my life time! Well, coffee break is over - everybody back on your head!
