What I don't get (and I'm always suspicious of photos on the web), is that I thought the steering cover instantly flipped up and out of the way, and the bag hits the chest (and not the cover), but maybe that's for passenger side ones. Yes, quite an impact.

Both of my hands at the base of the thumbs were bruised by the air bag cover when it when off in the Mazda6. The air bags themselves never hit me or my wife in the passenger seat...that's seat belts doing there job.
From the article..."Could be worse, though -- at least he's not walking around with a Yugo insignia lighting up his arm."
Did the writer of this article ever stop to think about whether or not a Yugo airbag would have worked??
