Talk me out of it- '79 B for play and track [noob]

Did I mention the trump?

Did I mention the trump? Wifey 'suggested' we buy furniture instead of a project car.

So I'll have the '80 shipped down here and have the front suspension replaced. Not a bad idea in any case.

Miatas are all over the place. Spec cars are popular at these events. I just know MGs. I learned to wrench on cars on this one.

I'll keep reading the site here- glad I found it. There's alot of info and not too much noise to sort thru.

Re: If I don't purchase the MG, I'll be checking i

The way I see it is that there will always be something with a little bit better stats out there that you can race. Unless you are Alonso or Schumacher, you can always think of something that is just a small step up that will beat your current set-up. Therefore I say forget trying the have the fastest car and go for the most fun car. Miatas are great, no doubt about it. But even though they are reliable cars that certainly perform well, they don't have the allure of a classic sports car (MG or otherwise). My MG was bought by my father when I was 8. I started (legally) driving it at 16 and have held the keys ever since. I even gave him a little money at some point for it, but I think I won the pink slip from him at one of many, many autocrosses. I bought it for $5000 (with some mods) and have put about $8000 into it in the last 2000 miles getting it refreshed and track ready again. With that money I could have bought a number of cars that would out perform my B, but I couldn't think of anything I'd rather drive. I use it on the street more than the track, but it is great both places. It even served as my only cars for a couple years. I guess what I'm getting at is if you want something that performs really well for not too much money, skip both and get a shifter kart. If you want something that pulls at heart strings and you really love, get the B.
