SU or ZS?

Keep th' SU's!

The only reason I would use the ZS's would be if you have the linkage to make the swap and already have a set of rebuilt ZS's. I would install those and see how they perform. You can then rebuild the SU's if you don't like them. If you have to rebuild the ZS's or don't have the proper linkage, I would go with the SU's.

Definitely keep the HS6s!

Triumph only switched for supply reasons, they couldn't reliably get the SU carbs at a reasonable price.

Tom, I'll wager that your car should have been built with SUs; from the VTR web site: "CTC 62191 - Stromberg carburettors deleted and twin SU HS6 substituted, still on same intake manifold, TW needles." And Randall is essentially right in that Triumph got tired of paying BMC far more for SU carbs (which BMC owned) than BMC's own divisions were paying...so Triumph developed their own version of the SU. Argue all you want about which is better, but many historical references note that Triumph's own test drivers couldn't tell which TRs were equipped with which carbs during testing!

True. But Triumphs own mechanics/tuners probably could.
+1 for SUs
