Someone going to start making them soon?

UK's latest product;

DU6@sucarb.co.uk expressing your interest and you will receive regular updates specifically about the new Carburetters.

What is the point? If they are for extra performance they will not work as good as Webers as they have no throttle pump.

But they pretty Derek--------:jester:

Look pretty cool, but, it will take a sophisticated machine to tune them. I worked in a Mercury outboard dealership years ago and we had to "tune" the 6 cylinder 100 hp outboard at times. It had 6 carburetors on it and no way could you tune it up by ear! We had a very sophisticated test machine to get everything working properly. Problem was, if the barometric pressure changed, they had to bring it back in for another tune up. They were a nightmare! 6 carbs, lots of dough for lots show, but will it go? :highly_amused: PJ

Paul161, these are twin throat SUs. Would that make them easier to tune than the six carb set up that you describe? I have never seen such a set up before, although I have seen 2x twin throat SUs on a Coventry Climax engine.

The examples in the picture above have individual linkages for each side of the DU. This implies each side is independent and can be adjusted separately. Maybe they're like individual carbs sharing a float bowl. If so, you'd think they'd be as hard to tune as 6 carbs.

Piece of cake! I do agree with Derek, about the lack of accelerator pump though. And looking at those, I'm not convinced they're carburettors or throttle bodies; that *might* be the fuel inlet tube(s) but as shown (with only the center unit w/double connections) looks more like a balance port between them. If the float bowls are indeed underneath, then a simple matter to make one (1) more of the units with a double inlet port.

They're different, and I'd sure like to gaze upon them under someone else's hood. In the meantime, I'll settle with what I have (incidentally, when my picture below was taken, was essentially the last time those Webers needing tuning...):

And Derek, those "CARBTUNE" units were sourced from your side of the pond!

Randy,

I don't touch my Webers - ever! I had them calibrated on a rolling road nearly 3 years ago and haven't touched anything since.

To be fair to SUs most of the problems are caused by people who keep 'adjusting' them. Just set them and leave them alone. I knew a guy with a tri-carb who didn't adjust his SU's for 5 years and they worked fine.

I never had any problems tuning tri-carb Healeys either, and usually, the only time anybody ever brought them back, was after the owner made them better!

Funny, but I had just gotten done telling my wife a story about people who "see" with their fingertips__they have to go and touch everything! The point of the story I was making was about a galley-hand on an offshore drilling rig who had just stepped off the helicopter and seemingly immediately "touched" the E.S.D. button, while mouthing the words what's this for?

It's the acronym for Emergency Shut Down...

He was put on the next chopper going North (back to the US mainland from the Gulf of Mexico)!

Then there was Van Auld, questionable CPA in Lafayette, Louisiana; first time I met him and upon opening the hood of the Healey, he says "Oooh, headers!" Yep, burnt the tip of his finger, looking at the headers! I stifled my laughter, having just stumbled upon an MG Club Meet at the OIl Center Travel Lodge and pulled into the lot ;)

They walk among us Derek. so be careful out there!!
