TR5/TR250 SU carb ID help

I am trying to confirm the SU's on the car are HS6's. The only id on the carbs are shown in the pictures.

This is the only tag.

You are the proud owner of a set of HS6 SU'S. That originated on a Volvo. Either a model B18D, P544 or P122S according to my Haynes SU CARBURETORS Owner Workshop Manual. That aluminum tag on the carb is the only identifier as to what cars these HS6 carbs were set up for.
I bought a TR4 that had the same carbs. I believe my car was used in racing and that was the reason they switched to these carbs. The carbs worked good and are very similar to the AUD 209's that were installed on some TR4 and TR4A's. I have since located several sets of the 209's and have replaced my AUD 94's with the 209's. I have also replaced the H6 carbs on my other TR4 with a set of 209's. In addition I have rebuilt another set of 209's for a friend and he is using them on his TR6. He previously had a set of Webers on that TR6.
As best as I can tell the difference between the 94's and 209's is the needle size and maybe the adjustment of the angle of the float bowls.
In your third picture that hose between the float bowl and the jet is the superior feature of these carbs. You can still buy the HS6 carbs from Moss and such. However there are a few changes that have been made to them over the last 50 years. We recently put a set of those new HS6's on a restored TR 6.

p.s. The "F" is for front carb. If you had a tag on the rear carb it would have stated AUD 94 R.

Just checked for the SU manual on Amazon; price is $206.47 :eek: I will check Burlens tech library.

Try Goggling "SU carb manuals". You will find many in the $30 neighborhood and some free downloads. I like Haynes because it includes the needle profiles.

In my opinion you do not need a manual to be able to rebuild a HS6 SU carb. But I bet you can find what you need in on line posts. The HS6 mostly requires that you pay attention to how it comes apart and get it back together in the same order. I say this but then realize that I have been occasionally working on SU carbs now for 30 years. But a no expert at it.
