Stromberg bypass issues

By now I'm sure all issues have surfaced several times but I am unable to locate this issue on previous postings.
I have just replaced the diaphragms in my CD carb bypass assembly units as I had issues with the RPMs sticking at 1400 every time I took my foot off the gas until I pulled out the choke and relaesed it. Having just replaced the diaphragms this issue no longer exists as my RPMs are now at a minimum of 2000!
Obviously I am no carb expert, either food or car, so what is it that I am missing?

You beat me to it Tom. Very good information in that post.

Also, be certain that you used the correct gasket between the carb body and the bypass valve. Some of the many gaskets leave a passage open between the 2 holes. This creates a constant open idle port. You want the 2 holes separated, so that the valve opens the passage when desired. I have no earthly idea what the other gaskets are for, I have never seen them used.

I think the kit manufacturers like to include extra stuff just to confuse us and keep us guessing... My SU kits included a couple of things that I never could figure out where they were supposed to go.
