On my way to work this morning in noticed I had no turn signals? So I flicked the hazard lights on, (they worked) then the turn signals worked, this has happend before a few times aswell?
Bad switch. it needs a good cleaning with a eraser. the switch can be dissassembled (carefully) cleaned at put back in service. or you can buy a new one.
I think it is actually in the hazzard switch. My midget does the same thing if it has sat for a while. If I don't have turn signals I can fiddle with the hazzard switch a couple of times and viola...turn signals again. I plan to remove the switch and see if I can clean the contacts up a bit. That is where I would recommend you start.

I'm pretty sure power for the turn signal is actually routed through the hazard switch. If the hazzard switch is off, it supplies power to the turn signal switch. When you turn the hazzards on, it cuts power from the turn signal and drives the blinkers on its own. I'm sure that is over simplified but I would definitely start with the hazzard switch. Probably just corroded up a bit.

I have the same problem - simply turn on your blinker and slowly move the hazard rocker switch without actually turning on the flashers until your turn signal works. That usually works with my car. If not, just clean the contacts in the switch.
NP. It's a great site and it's helped me no end to tidy up the wiring on my B, wire relayed headlamps, upgrade the alternator etc. So far, with nothing I haven't been able to sort out...and if I can do it, anyone can!
