Hi Folks -
Replacing the original boots on my 74TR6 and found a wrap of some type of tape (perhaps masking) in front of the upper ball joint where the end of the boot sits. Was this a “grease stop”?
If so, I assume it should be replaced?
Have cleaned out the old grease as best possible. For the initial greasing, I assume you coat the ball joints, wipe the steering rod on both ends, and give it the prescribed 5 shots?
Thanks,
Will

That tape doesn't sound like anything original....maybe a bandaid by the Previous Owner

Sounds like the tape was a mark for the installation edge of a new gater, marked where the old one was... and wasn't removed.
