Julian - see Doc's post up above...when you're ready, install the new wheel tightening the nut finger tight....get out on a long straight stretch of road, drive for a bit, pointing the car straight & let go of the wheel...bring the car to a slow stop, remove the wheel & recenter....do that several times until you're happy with the wheels alignment & tighten the nut!
 
Julian, all of the above,also here is how I do mine,because most roads are crowned,I find a lonely stretch. I drive as straight as possible down the center of the road,yellow line in the middle of the car. That way I dont have the crown of the road pulling me right or left. After you have done it enough times,you are ready to advance to the blue Tee,...which is 2 in the morning with your lites off.

Yes, don't try this at home....but, sometimes I just slow down while I switch...hehehe
