Steering seal replacement on the car

If one puts anti-seize on the tapers when assembling, they come apart much easier.

When they perfect the time-machine, we'll be able to go back and beat the previous owners into doing those things!

You'd be hard pressed to find any fastener on my Healey (and a fair portion of the BMWs I've worked on) that doesn't have Kopr-Shield on the shanks and threads, my preference over Nevr-Seize, that I find tends to dry out and get balky.

(I consider myself pretty secure from any future time-travelers wanting to come back and kick my butt!)

Grease injector makes for easy install of Corn Head grease:

I wasted a fair amount trying to pump the grease in with just the threaded portion on the end of the hose. Air was trapped just inside the box and the grease would bubble up on the outside of the cover. The needle allows injection from lower in the box, allowing the air to escape.

Bob - the JDCHG is NLGI 0 vs 00 for the Penrite. It's the difference between mayonnaise and honey. Requires 2 cartridges total - around $20 including shipping.

My Plan A was to install the grease and see if it stops the leak - possibly giving me some more years on the seal(s). If it still leaks, will go forward with seal replacement.

Followup: Just used this for the first time to detach track rod ball joints from pittman arm -- works perfectly without messing up the rubbers!
