Stay safe tonight!

Great advice!

But I'm staying home, curling up next to the woodstove with my Super Snipe Workshop Manual, and a Twilight Zone festival on the tube.

Happy New Year all!

A safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year to all!

Headed downtown for the big civic party, just me and my camera, looking for a great photo opportunity, or two, or three... I love going to events like that just on my own, it's the photojournalist side of me, even though it's not my paid occupation...

But take a look at the second photo on this link... https://www.cnn.com/2013/12/30/world/new-years-eve-parties/index.html It was published last year at this time, photo itself taken in 2012 shortly after midnight, they found me...

And I won't be drinking

Just got back from playing at a country club gig. Went well. Driving home was fairly routine, just with a lot more traffic than what I normally encounter at 1:30 in the morning.

Just back, 1:00 AM local time, doubt I got anything that good tonight, also got there a little late... *shrugs*

Cool photo on CNN, James!

We stayed home and watched Anderson and Kathy on CNN. That's about as wild as I want these days.

Thought we would go out for dinner at least (we are the most boring New Year's Eve couple in the world!) First had to drive daughter to her festivities (unexpectedly) so, everything was a little later. I had made last minute reservations at a new restaurant literally down the street (not quite walking distance but close) This place has had excellent reviews. Made the reservation, found out it was a three course prix fixe menu - great! away we went. Get there and the place is pretty much full with er um a slightly more vintage crowd - dressed to the nines (we weren't) Well. long story short, someone had rented the restaurant for an event (that others bought tickets to) and the restaurant owner had sold the last few tables to people like us. It was terrible!!!! The food choice were soup/ salad then prime rib/ salmon/ chicken, then cheesecake for dessert. The soup (bacon/cheddar) was burnt - and lukewarm. The prime rib potatoes were awful, the veg cold and the actual meat was so overcooked as to be rubbery. However, I tried it, and 45 minutes later when SWMBO had not even been served, it was time to chat with the owner about a refund - which we received.

That said, at the table next to us was a younger couple who had likewise called in late - he was so frustrated it is difficult to describe, not merely talking to the owner about his girlfriend's lack of food but my wife's as well - he got his refund as well, and bought all of us a round of drinks in celebration. - we then got to meet/ have a chat with a lovely couple - laughed ourselves silly and the craziness of it all, went home and watched TV for the rest of the night - Oh, and after well over an hour my wife's salmon arrived - and was warm - go figure.

All in all, the night that will pass into infamy as a story worth telling and a further reminder that we need to order pizza, put n PJ's, watch a countdown and go to bed.

Happy 2015 all - and happy motoring!

New Year's Even lesson learned!

Today I'll be enjoying baked ham, blackeyed peas, cornbread, greens, - and mince pie with hard sauce. Washed down with good New England (real!) cider.

Anyone notice a slightly "southern" trend there?

And I'm *really* looking forward to a year of Humber motoring. Don't want to stray far from my Rootes.

:jester:

Went to friends' home, feasted on cabbage and bratwurst, watched midnight fireworks over a small lake from their backyard, seated next to a nice fire. We've known these two for 30 years, we're more like family than we are friends. Stayed over and came back to the hovel this AM. Great time. Low stress, good company.

Husband Doug is flying. Me and felines slept through the witching hour. Staying close to home. To darn cold to go anyplace. Happy New Year all and let's make this a really great year!!!

Stayed home and watch 2nd season Of Breaking Bad (don't have cable).

2014 was terrible for us, 2015 is off to a good start with $1.99 gas.

We stayed home too and watched Fawlty Towers on Netflix. I agree - too COLD!!

Too cold? This morning it was 23 degrees (-5c), sunny and dry so I thought it's a good time to pull the TR6 out.
The wife thought I was crazy (she could be right), but I had a most pleasant New Years Day drive.

... I agree - too COLD!!

Meh... I've been at public New Year's events here where the temperature was -25 Celcius and there was still a good sized crowd, just us crazy northerners... :encouragement: This year was fairly mild at -5, just an average winter temperature...
