Does anyone know what the total resistance of the starter field windings is suppose to be? Was getting ready to install starter on engine then reinstall engine, but the starter was so cruded up I had to take it apart to clean it. I think everything will be in order but since I removed the windings I figure I should check them out before I put them back in. thanks again. Dave.

You will be ahead both in function and cost by purchasing and installing a gear reduction starter...

I'm not sure I can agree about the cost part, so far this thing hasn't cost me anything. But I have come into alittle dilemma. I broke one of the "brush tension springs". You would think the aftermarket would have these covered because they are pretty vulnerable and would be needed often. But all the usual suspects have them listed as N/A. A H SPARES list a spring for the Dynamo but it is not the same spring.
