Sputter, miss, backfire, Yuck!!!!

I hadn't noticed this thread before, but many years ago I drove down to LA and as I pulled off the freeway my BGT exhibited the exact same symptoms as described. I took it to a BL dealer and they couldn't figure it out so I abandoned it there (I picked it up weeks later since I was in the process of moving to LA). It took me ages to figure out the problem...one of the end plugs in the manifold had simply fallen out, and I couldn't see or even hear it...a massive vacuum leak just like this instance. I do recall that it was immensely frustrating to troubleshoot since it was highly unclear as to whether I was looking at a fuel or electrical or other problem and no amount of parts switching and replacement made a lick of difference. Glad you figured out the problem before you went insane.

Gaskets and parts arrived from MOSS today. Gonna be fun on Saturday putting it all back together. Now to see if I can get the exhaust manifold painted and highh temp paint cured by Saturday so I can reassemble. Will be interesting to see how much better Bugsy runs without a vacumn leak.

I think you are going to like it Jim.

Painted the Exhaust Manifold silver hi temp this evening and side covers both got a coat of black. Tomorrow night the manifold will get a trip into the over to help cure the paint and then back together Saturday morning. I'm getting excited about a sweet running engine once again

I found the BBQ was a good place to cure my manifold - and less grief from SWMBO - not that I told her shhhh

I have never figured out why most houses have the parts washer and paint curing oven located in the kitchen.

Not the doghouse which is invariably where you end up next

I already got the lecture about the spare oven but did get the first heat cycle completed. Rest of cure will be on the car. Figured best not to p__s off the better half this weekend. Back to the garage.
