MGB Spring compressor for MGB front suspension

I'd like to ask a related question to this thread...
Is it possible to rebuild the shock absorbers?, driver side looks good and the other may have been leaking and is coated with oil.

Also, I had to end up using a slightly modified coil compressor to get the coil out, the bolt in the wishbone frame around the coil spring pan closest to the wheel was rusted and fused together and wouldn't budge enough to widen the frame to rotate and drop the coil pan, it worked and all's good.
 
I wouldn't advise even trying to rebuild shocks yourself. Get them rebuilt by a pro that has both the knowledge and equipment to do the job right. I'd recommend going to Peter Caldwell at World Wide Auto Parts. https://www.nosimport.com/ He's the best and his shocks are better than new. I would have them done as a pair, so if you're not ready to get both then just clean up the one that appears to be leaking and top off the oil and see how long it lasts and how it works. Use oil of no more than 20 weight for the shocks, heavier oil will only damage the units eventually.

A bit of trivia...

It's a MacPherson strut if it turns with the wheels. If it doesn't, it's a <span style="font-weight: bold">Chapman </span> strut, such as when used in the rear. Yes, that would be as in Colin Chapman.
