Spot the mistake...

no, that wasn't it...

I see some crankcase venting issues with a plugged carb vacuum source and the hose from the valve cover appears to go "overboard" instead of thru a pump but I'd consider that less-than critical...

It's hard to tell from that picture, but are the plugs wired wrong? It's also got an alternator instead of a generator.
Jeff

Looks like there was an engine rebuild not long ago.

Not sure about the clutch MC.

Behind the heater, can just see the terminals.

I would agree with the observation on the back-up lights, they are not original, but the thing that is done totally wrong is the shift-lever housing!! It is mounted backwards (incidentally, I have seen that done before!)!!!

Well, if it's the engine bay we're supposed to be focused on, here's a photo of a more or less unmolested '66 I adopted out to a new home last year for comparison. When everything is turned around for right hand drive, like the car in the photo on Ebay, it gets more challenging for me to discern errors.

Again: all I see "wrong" is the crankcase venting stuff is goober'd up. V/C vented to atmosphere and the vacuum for the valve is plugged off.

I don't see an alternator or what appears to be air horn compressor to be major "sin" on a '66 by this time.

Umm, all I saw was the heater on wrong. Well spotted Jeff, great minds and all that!
Still, with all that other stuff noted I can't help but sit here feeling like a dumbass...

No Pete, some folks here (myself often included) just have too much esoteric knowledge floating around the old brains. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Well, on second look, I must agree that there is no battery in place (of course that does not mean he does not have a new one to pop in!). I still think the only glaring mistake is that shifter housing!!! Can't find much else outrageously wrong! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

I agree with Doc. (below) that on a RHD car the blower would interfer with access to the master cylinders if it were placed as in LHD cars! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Roger that, Drew. The blower motor was what I thought to be a proper arrangement for a RHD car tho... all the master cylinder stuff up there to get in the way an' all.

I can't recall seeing a RHD Spridget, either, so I was clueless about that.
