Spitfire Spitfire - Rear Hub disassembly help!

Hi Guys,
I bought a pair of swing axles and could not separate so I had my mechanic take care of disassembly and reassembly. I now find out the new axles were the wrong ones and have to do this all over again. Since this was recently assembled I figure I would save the money and do it myself but I’m running into and issue. I don’t want to damage the new bearings so I thought I better ask before I continue. I was able to remove the hub without much effort but the rest of the assembly is still on the axle, I tapped it a few times with a hammer to try to loosen but it hasn’t budged, is there anything that needs to be removed or is it a matter of being persistent and using a bigger hammer and eventually everything else will come off.

Thanks, for your help,

Rick

The shaft presses through the bearing. The best way to disassemble this would be to take it somewhere that has a press and remove the wrong shaft. While there, press the new one in. While you might be able to hammer the axles out and in, like you... I would be afraid of damaging the bearing.
