Spitfire Spitfire 1500 distributor end float?

Does a Spitfire 1500 engine need the distributor end float set up the same way as a TR6?
This car has a cork gasket under the distributor pedestal and I don't think that looks right. What is it suppose to be? Paper like a TR6?
If end float is required, what is the value?
Anyone have a 1975 Spitfire manual they no longer need?

I don't have a 1500 manual, but it should be the same as the older engines. end float should be between 0.002" and 0.007"
The normal spacers are paper type gaskets, not cork.
 
Yes, it does need to be set up more or less the same way. The BL manual specifies an end float of .005" (plus or minus .0002") between distributor pedestal and drive gear.

Maybe a cork gasket is ok, depending on the clearance required, but it sounds like it might be a little thick. Usually they would be paper.
