I heard the sonic boom here as it went over the gulf coast. Cool enough.

I thought it was being re-directed to Basil-Ville (New Mexico)?

Are sure that wasn't Santa you heard? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Nope. We had a somewhat muffled (due to some low cruising moisture) but distinct "Thub-dub" and it put down at the Cape. Last minute weather clearing... "waved around" earlier today. Who'd a thunk "waved around" would have an orbital connotation?!?!

WHOO-HOO!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Home in time for Christmas... congratulations. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

I always feel a little relieved when they get back safely, its not something that used to be any concern... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That must be a cool sound.

We used to get woken up all the time when the Shuttle's decent path took it over Los Angeles. Too many people complained so they changed the flight path to keep it over less populated areas. I was bummed!

It sounds like this...

BOOOOOM BOOOOOOM!!!!!!

Yep, is a good sound, folks comming home after a job well done.

I was under the B changing the speedo cable when it went over. The startle caused me to hit my knuckles on the trans. It's very loud here in Orlando but pretty cool.

The greatest achievement of humans so-far has been the ~possibility~ that we can (as a species) "slip the surly bonds"... We'll see. Every egg has a shell. An "egg tooth" has been acquired. Whether or not the chick can eventually soar is entirely up to the chick.

...just keep the Second Law firmly in mind.
