Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chrome

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

Here ya go! The ride height is adjusted higher than normal in these shots. At track height it won't make it over most speed humps. It is also sporting road-going seats and belts. I'm looking for new buckets that are more vintage-looking than the old ones, which are not pictured. More photos and specs here: https://www.mgnuts.com/mg/mgcgts/

I don't think I can ever put mine back on the street.

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

I bet you could if you wanted to, but it would mean removing the headlamp cowls and installing rears if you haven't already. That's probably the hardest part. The DMV doesn't know anything about old cars. A lot of the vintage (pre-war, early post-war) race car guys register them as road cars because the DMV has no idea they were never meant to be road-going. They don't know anything about cars made before they were born. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Aye, street legal does not mean touring.

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

I bet I could. Heck no one even looks at the car when you register it.

Check your state requirements Tony. That would be just the thing for fast deliveries to the post office.

Brake lights, check.

Headlights, check.

Turn signals, check.

Safety belts, check.

Windsheld wipers, check.

Mufler, check.

What did I miss, nothing I bet.

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

Brake lights, check.

Headlights, nope - but I could put them back on & rewire them back into the harness (which right now only has about 4 wires total!) & install a switch.

Turn signals, nope - but the same as headlights.

Safety belts, check.

Windsheld wipers, nope - but I could redrill the holes in the valance & add them & rewire the harness & install a switch....but, then I'd have to replace the LEXAN windshield with the OE glass one.

Mufler, check.

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

Forget a horn I think.

Get to work Tony, sounds like a serious ride.

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

I bet you could get away without wipers and a horn. You already have provisions for headlamps and turn signals, and you mention brake lights are already there. Imagine how much more fun you could have if you could drive it whenever you want! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Re: Soo, OK... 'nother question about Moss and Chr

Seems like a no brainer to me. Bet I could have it on the street in two days or less if I was at Tonys.

Tony, how about an SCCA street legal GT. Make it street legal first.

That's a great idea! [/QUOTE]

My Jag Club (if I joined) is an hour away... I would be bankrupted before the first year's dues had been enjoyed. At the rate I am going I should start a local Jaguar Club and make the $5 rule its only membership requirement (and mandatory attendance to every weekly meet)... I'd have enough to restore the XJ6C and buy a new XK8 within the year.
In my car's defense, however, I have to say that it started regularly for 4 years after a major engine bay fire and only failed when I hit the scorched wiring with a wrench.... not too shabby for any car, especially considering the Lucas reputation.......

Great idea... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

In defense of ALL of the LBC, especially JAGs, they may not work all the time but, WOW, are they worth it when they do.. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
