Well Tom, I'm much more relaxed knowing he's recovering from this and doing well. No one is sure exactly where he picked up this bug, but the flight to Dayton from Tulsa was the only time he was in close company with a lot of people. He had been working so many hours, to the point that he was exhausted prior to the flight, which from Dayton connected to another flight to Virginia to inspect an aircraft for a customer. He was run down and his immune system wasn't up to where it should have been. In other words, he was a prime target for the bug to take hold unchecked.
Most commercial aircraft today have a recirculating system rather than using fresh air from out side the aircraft like they used to, so your breathing filtered cabin air. This was done to conserve fuel, as I think cabin air is recirculated using electrical power, not tapping off an engine compressor. This isn't a positive where he caught the bug, but the possibility is high on the list, as know one knows, (or want's to say), if the filtering system is capable of cleaning the air as well as fresh outside air. Could he have caught it elsewhere, it would be fool hearty to say no. We do know, according to his doctors, that he caught MRSA first and the pneumonia followed. If I learn anything more, I'll pass it along. PJ
