Yesterday my son Paul, this good looking fellow, past US national aerobatic champion;

was taken to the hospital with pneumonia and is in critical condition! The picture of health is now fighting for his life! Just had to tell someone as it's devastating to us. A complete team of doctors are attending to him constantly trying to get his white blood cell count up! He caught this illness on an airline flight, so beware! All prayers will be deeply appreciated. We are supposed to go before our kids, not the other way around! PJ

He ( and you and your family ) will have all the prayers I can muster!

Yikes!

We'll be thinking about you. Hopes it all turns out okay.

So sorry to hear.

Likewise on this end.

Here's to hearing a good report soon.

Please keep us posted.

Sorry to hear the news.... Here's to a speedy recovery for your son Paul.

Oh geez! Best wishes for a speedy, and complete, recovery! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Phil

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! He's in ICU with constant attendance from the hospital staff. His personal doctor from Tulsa, 70 miles away, will check on him, here in Tahlequah, every other day! As of last night, his vitals were improving. He's on a ventilator plus Oxygen, as he can now breath 50% on his own with 40% Oxygen, 5 AM yesterday morning, he could only breath 10% on his own with 90% Oxygen. Cell count slowly starting to rise. Even though they can get him, out of the woods, so to speak, with his vitals, he will still be very, very sick. Pneumonia, is a horrible thing to see someone go through in it's advanced stages. And to believe he caught this during a flight from Tulsa to Dayton. I think the prayers are helping! Thanks to all! Heading to the hospital now. PJ

Glad to hear the good news Paul.

Oh my. Prayers here.

My thoughts and prayers too Paul. I had pneumonia a couple of months ago so know what he is going through. Mine was caught really early and not nearly that bad. But even mild it is very unpleasant. Glad to hear he is improving too.

Positive thoughts from our direction. Awful news, but it sounds as if he's turned the corner.

Thoughts and prayers to all of you. Fortunately, he was a model of health.

You are all very kind for your wishes and prayers. We are extremely grateful. He is still sedated and on the ventilator. He can hear to some extent, but not comprehend anything. At the start, his white blood cell count was 400. We almost lost him. Through the constant care and professionalism of the ICU staff here in Tahlequah City Hospital, he is pulling through this. His cell count as of yesterday morning was 6000! I won't go into any more treatment detail on the forum, as it could be a little to much for some to take. The bad news is he has MRSA! Only two known antibiotics work on that virus, he's getting both. He's better than half way up the hill, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter! His doctors are very impressed and optimistic at this point, as they only gave him 20% chance of survival in the beginning. PJ

Note, MRSA is a devastating illness. I would advise everyone to read up on it, as according to the doctors, it's getting more popular throughout the world. It covers the entire age spectrum, no ones immune to it. It's even turning up in fresh foods, bagged vegetables etc. It's even been found on can tops in grocery stores! Wash everything, including can tops before opening it and make the kids wash their hands frequently. Schools are easy to infect. Their finding this stuff on wrestling mats and other athletic equipment. Don't mean to scare you, well, sorry but, yes I do!

Thanks for the update, Paul, and hang in there.

Yes, MRSA's nasty stuff. Sounds like he's getting the care he needs, and he's certainly getting thoughtful and prayerful support.

Mickey
