I owned a 1965 Mercedes 220 SEb. Fuel-injected 6-cylinder, 4-speed column shift, no power steering. Paid $2500 for it, kept it for a few years and sold it for $1,650.00 to a guy whose shoelaces were untied. I feared the worst, and sure enough, a couple of weeks later, I got a call from a local attorney that "Shoelaces" had blown the gearbox. Tough luck. I actually bought a set of new shocks for that car in Lisbon, Portugal (even got a mechanic's discount!) Had the grille rechromed but the car developed rust and had to go.
