So much for the VB clutch kit

I'll give it a shot, Jack.

When I talked w/VB this am, they said they'd either send me another or do a refund...I'm gonna send them photos of the problem & they said it would go to the buyers...they couldn't tell mer if there had been other problems with it in the past..& of course, no tech wizards.

With Moss, my guy checks the history of a product & can tell me if there have been issues in the past - & the tech guy calls me back to discuss the problem & how to solve it.

Differences in companies, I guess.

Oh, lesson learned: keep all your packaging until the job is finished & you're happy with the installation!

Boy oh boy, you got it Tony. Learned, use Moss.

Pay the higher price and figure it is worth it in pain and suffering.

""""" If it is supose to be for a 948 I should be able to bolt it in and use it. Otherwise it is not made correctly.'""""""

Your right... to a degree.

BUT..over the 45 or more years there might be running changes in ,say, color or appearance in the part.

A good example is the mechanical fuel pump that has to use a spacer block. No spacer no work. Is it in the instructions? Probably not. Many companies put a sheet in the product that says "this part may look different than the one you are removing but will fit your application".

BUT...(theres that word again)....the parts just might be boxed wrong as I mentioned in my post above.

VB does not have a clutch plate only for a 1098 I reordered from Moss after receiving a VB which was too small. It is unfortunate that VB does not have tech support as I have purchased several items that do not cut the mustard. On the plus side they are willing to take the parts back, just a hassel.

Me too, reorderd through Tony from Moss, VB took the other back.

Moss said that clutchs for our vehicles were almost non exhistant at the moment. Hmmm. Summer driving.

You're right that VB doesn't have one for the 948 - the one they list for 948's doesn't work as Jack just found out!

And right now, Moss is out of stock on 948 clutch discs & pressure plates except for the Quinton-Hazel kit until around December....guess what Jack's getting!!

I just Googled Quinton-Hazel, hmmmm, not sure why this is or is not a big deal or if it is.

They provide lots of car related orginal and spare parts meeting orginal specifications they say.

We will see I suspose.
