Think about the megasquirt. On the BMW 2002, I'm hoping to be able to weld aluminum injectors bosses on the underside of the existing manifold and then build a fuel rail out of tubing and fittings so as to keep that stock appearance. The Mikunis would be disconnected regards fuel lines and just be used as throttle bodies. Putting the bosses on the underside isn't as good (for power and economy)as putting them on top with a straight shot at the valves and inlet ports, but should work adequately. My advisor figures that running the timing off the distributor is adequate for a street enjoy.
For bosses, have a look half way down this page: https://sdsefi.com/eic.html
I've got 45 DCOE and manifold for the 1275 we'll be putting in the silver BE, but I'm concerned that it might be way too much, so EFI is in the back of my head there too, but I own the carb etc., so will try running it that way first.
Would you be able to do something similar (ie keep the DGV carb for your throttle body and add injectors? SDSEFI has some diy pages as part of their web site that might be of interest. ANd they'r maybe 20 km down the road from home, so I'll be stopping by there later this winter.
