Should floor pan be replaced?

OK, I have some rust in the floor of drivers side in the B (beast) and need to know if I should replace or patch.
I am going to try an attachment. There are a few very small holes and one that is larger. I did no find these untill I was wire brushing to clean the surface rust out.

The rest of the car is nearly rust free.

From that photo, were it me, I'd at least replace the front half - in front of the seat - if the area under & behind the seat is solid. That way you could buy the less expensive floor (Moss #458-950) that doesn't have the captured nuts for the seats & get away for less than $100 in parts.

Speaking of rust.... First off, I agree, yet again, with Tony. Replacing the front half is a good idea.

I have been using a product called 'Rust Doctor' in areas of surface rust with some success.

You might check it out at Rust Doctor

If the rusted area is corroded through, I replace the panel. If it is a surface rust areas, I paint this schtuff on after I have brushed the areas relatively clean of surface oxide. This is a compound that turns the surface rust from iron oxide to magnitite, an inert oxide and seals it with a laxtex based compound. I then primer and paint as usual. It has worked well for me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just for those that may miss the attachment... It's clearly swiss cheese by now.

I agree with Tony on this one, but I might also give a cautionary glance at the sills to see if they too are suddenly appearing to be holy also.

Well, Could be close, I got out in 1970. Did a tour on the "FDR" and the "Independence" with VF 84, Jolly Rodgers. Mostly east coast and the Med. And I spell last name Odom.

Tom, sorry for the misspelling... His was also Odom. He is from your neck of the woods... I was an airdale... Anti-submarine warfare specialist. Flew in P3's.... '70-'73...
Nice to meet a fellow Viet Nam era vet.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

I replaced the pans with the Pressed Steel ones from Vickie Brit. Over all they were a good deal. Only "complaint" is ther e are no seat mounting nuts attached. I used "NutZerts" for the task:

No problem about the spelling. Nam! Makes you about my age. You're getting old. That's good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Tom, Getting old is better than the alternative... besides, our bodies may be getting up in years but not our youthful spirit!!!

Anyway... You would think that we would have outgrown our passions for these cars... then we could.... well..?!? WHAT, sit in front of the TV and veg.. I think NOT...

Good luck on the replacement of the pan. Do take a look at the Rust Doctor site I posted. It has worked well for me...
