Wedge Shaking Front End on TR7

I have had a problem for several years and sure would like to solve it. Whenever I make a fairly sharp right turn at speeds between 35 and 55, the front end shakes violently. It does not shake at all on a left turn. Also I get the same shaking whenever I brake and am steering straight. I have noticed that if I have a heavy passenger (an adult), the shaking is less intense. I am about to replace the struts but don't anticipate that this will affect the shaking much as I have had them replaced several years ago and there was no affect on the shaking then. (I'm replacing them this time because they have failed). I raised the front end and checked the bearings (by shaking & twisting the wheels) and while there is some minor play, they seem to be ok, but I am not experienced in that area. If you have any suggestions, I would certainly appreciate it. This has been a nagging problem for a very long time. Thanks.

I had the same problem in my TR6 over bumps. I did the shocks as well as the stabilizer link package and steering rack bushings and all is well at this time. Also high speed tire balance didn't hurt either.

TR7s are notorious for front-end shake, so I finally found out after researching why my last TR7 shook at 50MPH.

There are many causes, and it sounds like your car suffers from a specific issue somewhat, but not entirely related to the standard problem.

I would suspect that you'll want to look at the bearings, the bushings and have the steering rack checked for excessive play. You'll also want to have the alignment checked, since a wheel could be in slightly, causing a vibration at certain angles.
