Dear Scott,

Your slow progress on this matter is totally interfering with my life. Will you please get to the bottom of this engine seizure ASAP so I can stop obsessively checking this thread every 10 minutes.

Thank you,

Morris

You too huh? I'm now fretting over my engine more than you can imagine .... or maybe you can

Guys I am seriously sad to report... but imagine how I feel. I was on here just last night looking for the crank nut size so I could quickly run to Sears to buy a socket when the room started to spin. Darn fell off my chair, I thought I was dying. Seriously everything was spinning like that distant familar drunk feeling where you pray to God to let you live through the night. After throwing up and passing out at 8pm not knowing if I was going to make it through the night I awoke this morning to the same symptoms. Needless to say I have now experianced Vertigo and if I attempt to sneak into the garage now my wife will surely have my head. So it may be a day or so, or tommorow I may be carefully dissembling this motor in a stupor like state. Maybe they should call it Midget fever. Lets be honest, what is really causing this dizziness!!!??!

I've probably said this before:

I use a shift light set to 5800 RPM for the 1500 in my racer (basically stock and unbalanced) and I change rod bearing and thrust washers every season (about 25 hours of real use). Mine are not pinned. Limiting RPM is key on these things.
New oil and filter every weekend, of course.

I'm building a 1275 for vintage racing right now....that'll easily give me another 1000 RPM over the 1500.

I will shamelessly add this side note. I did take it to 6k that day in forth. But the road was wide open and it was singing...... The engine is balanced and the flyweel lightened so it just gets there so easily..../bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

A lightened flywheel and a balance job just may be your worst enemy. hehe.

Scott, Just anxiety I hope. Get to the doctor just to be sure.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]I have now experienced Vertigo [/QUOTE]

Scott, some people get this due to chemical causes.
I have a neighbor who had symptoms like yours, turns out to have been caused by the sweetener in most diet soda.

A guy at work gets it when his sinuses act up.

My oldest daughter is the same. She thought she had some kind of tumor or something, but it was "just" her sinuses.

See a doctor.

did trevor/ rick. Some fluid in my inner ears throwing me for a loop. Got some anti-vert pills. Make me super tired though. Havent been sick lately so I think it may be my sinus' acting up, I just finished some wood floors in bout 3/4 of my house. Lotta saw dust.

Be very careful with sawdust - a surprising amount is literally toxic. AND get better first! I'm not THAT worried. Besides I won't even have a car to put the engine in for months yet, and there is a foot of snow on the ground anyway.

BTW - rest of the group - when you talk about pinning the thrust washers - how do you do it? adhesive?

Hmmmm.... did these symptoms occur after consuming large quantities of beer? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Because a similar thing happens to me when I am really stressed out about my car and I use beer to soothe the tension.

Please take car of yourself and get better soon... so we can find out what is going on with your car!!!

Ahh...
Yes I remember sanding & finishing my hardwood floor and I also was sick for a while afterwards.
Take care of yourself, get well soon!

I've had these attacks a couple times in the last year or so. Nasty stuff. At least after the first time I knew what it was, so the second time it happened I didn't have that panic feeling. No fun at all.

Hope it subsides for you soon, that Vertigo stuff is seriously unfun. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

Im feeling great today. May find me back in the garage after I finshed rocking my new bath. I have a problem with slowing down.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

wife had to stand over me with a club to keep me down as I recouperated from a detached retina... heaven knows what a rap onna nodge woulda done, so I kept me nose pointed down. For WEEKS...

Drinkin' beer thru a straw and watchin' TV with a mirror just ain't satisfyin', somehow. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I feel as if I am dissappointing all the fellow Spridgeteers! I still have not gotten in the garage to yank this thing out yet. Its burning me up a bit as well. I have to re-finish my bathroom and replace my sliding doors before I think Ill even get to it. Very dissapointing indeed..... Right now my garage is loaded with tile and sinks, tub sheetrock etc... I cant even get to my baby.

That's OK Scott, take care of business... then get back to pleasure!

Yeah...first things first.

I know you're got a new addition coming and that'll be a big change (my first grandchild came two weeks ago...this new baby has even affected my spare time!).

Also, I am recovering from the Flu. Since I felt a *little* bit better today, I went to my shop and worked for about 1/2 hour. Big mistake! I'm still not up to par and will need another week.

If you're like me, you want to do it all.
But give yourself a break.

I'm swearing off my race car for at least another week and then only if #1 grandchild isn't available.
We've got all Summer in front of us.

Congratulations Nial!!!

Have you taken the new kid up in the Aeronca yet? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Ha-ha! Thanks!.
These little kids put a lot of other stuff in perspective...

So far #1 grandchild has only ridden in her Mom's 5 speed SAAB 9-3 and my other daughter's 5 speed Jag.

As for planes and LBCs: All in good time...... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Congrats Nial. My sister had her baby two weeks ago to. First granchild in the clan for my parents. Were all excited and I cant wait. Still trying to paint race cars in the babys room. Wife is voting for monkeys....

(I may squeeze in a racing monkey!)
