T-Series Seatbelt latch sensor?

OK maybe someone in the group could enlighten me as to what is the reason for the wires going to the driver’s seatbelt latch. I mean it doesn’t appear to do anything whatsoever. Yes, I know about the seatbelt warning light in the center console. But that works just fine & goes out a second or two after starting the car – regardless if I have my belt on already or not.

Anyway what brought this to my attention was that this afternoon I finally got around to replacing my old tired (barely working) inertia reel seatbelts. Upon removal I noticed that there was connector going to the drivers latch/release for the safety belt. That I’d all but forgotten about it from when I replaced the old carpet with a new kit a few years back But I just reconnected it to be safe - not knowing for sure and all but forgot about it until today.

Anyway, I installed the new belts without any problems and they seem to work fine. So I’m not all that concerned about this as nothing seems to be out of place. I suspect this is or was what powered that annoying buzzer that you can’t get anymore.

Anyway anyone know for sure – I’m just curious.

Thanks,
Bret

I think you're right.
Isn't the buzzer hooked to/ activated by the (white) flat,palm-size 'pressure switch thingy' embedded in the seat foam
and then to the latch/release?
I could very well be wrong, but my buzzer stopped annoying me when I removed this contraption while renewing the webbing in the seat bottoms in my Midget.
It no longer feels like '1984'. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Thanks, thats what I figured.

BTW - for those of you, whos inertia real seatbelts are getting to be a pain in the rear like mine where. Victoria British is running a sale on them through Feburuary.

VB lists them at $112.44 and normally sells then at $89.95 each. But this winter sale prices those same inertia reel belts @ $69.95 each.

I installed mine and love'em.
