Still digging through the photos we took on the last trip. These are from the Schlumpf Collection in Alsace, now known as the French National Automobile Museum. The place is huge - several web sites refer to it as the largest car museum in the world and I can't disagree. You could spend an hour just looking at the hood ornaments (mascots) which is the best I've ever seen. Their website is here.

It's an amazing place. Great food, too!

One of my favorite GP cars of the late forties/early fifties - Talbot Lago. Not too successful but stunning nevertheless.

Bugatti pickup truck. My favorite car there, I think.

Artsy display at the entrance.

Where, exactly in Alsace is this museum? I will be in the area in late June or early July.
This place does look huge. Have you been to the National Motor Museum in England (in Beaulieu)? It's pretty good too. https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/

P.S. - found it on the map. MIGHT be close to it. :yesnod: Gonna start south in Reims.

I went to Beaulieu a few years ago - also a great museum, especially for British car nuts. And the New Forest certainly added to the experience.

If you're going to be near the Schlumpf it's definately worth a look. I understand there's an effort to restore parts of the race track in Reims - that'll be interesting also.

Thanks. We'll try.

As per the New Forest area, I'm amused that it gets that name despite being completely deforested. Evidently a few hundred years ago it was covered with oak that was used for ship-building in nearby Portsmouth (etc.). We enjoyed the entire Montague estate when visiting Beaulieu. Enjoyed Bornmouth as well.
