Sachs rotory engine and mini dyno

I've got a sachs rotory engine on a mini dyno that I've had since college. I never did try to get it going. It supposedly works. I've gotta get rid of it as I'm cleaning up and out. It's probabaly gonna go on ebay. I have no idea what to value it at, I've never seen one before. What do y'all think it's worth?
 
Try checking on the Smokstak forum. all about old engines. I've read a few discussions on those little rotary engines. They have some value, but are not a real gold mine. Depending on what the "Mini dyno" is, that may net a few bucks.
The small engine market is not a high dollar one.
If shipping wouldn't kill me, I'd make you an offer. Sounds like the kind of unique thing I like to collect.(See also strange junk)
Those were used for a very short time on some lawn mowers. I don't think they had a very long lifespan.
I trick I use to find the value of something is to pretend I'm trying to buy one. I usually wind up with a good idea of what people are getting for similar items.

Believe it or not the whole thing isn't that big or heavy (~40 #'s). This one doesn't have many hours on it. They used it at school as a demo of some sorts. The dyno part uses a pump, so it's not that big. I'd love to something cool w/ it but don't have the time or money.

It would make a killer RC plane powerplant.
 
didn't the Artic Cat sled have a Sachs rotary?
 
From what I've read, yes. Mine is like those and not the lawnmower one.

Maybe we could work out a deal...hehehehhee.... I shipped an antique lawn mower to South Carolina last year. It cost about $60. box weighed 90 lbs.
first order of business, no matter who you sell it to, is to find out a fair value (Of which I have no clue)
I need another old motor like Doug needs another classic car :devilgrin: .
 
Is that one of those that was sized for RC planes? I assumed that it was lawn mower size.

I'll get a pic tommorrow. it's not RC size unless you build a big plane. IIRC, I think it's about 5-7 hp.

Sachs KM 37 108cc 6.5 hp on a Go Power Cprp Dy-7D dyno. I found one motor for parts @ $275.
 
Hmmm. it seems that because it's a bit unique, they have a better value than many others. Nice! That puts me out, but is very good news for you. Now to find a buyer. Again, I'd try on Smokstak.com they have a great classified section.
It's a plus that it's small and portable. Also, the Dyno may be valuable to the right folks.

sure would like to see a pic of this. We are talking about a wankel? Any idea what it uses for seals? Interested buyer.

I'll get pics when I can. It sure would make a really cool scooter or cart engine. I don't know what it uses for seals. I've read a few places parts are still avalible ( in AU) and guys have modified Mazda parts to fit, not that you would need them. This thing should have REALLY low hours on it. I need to get it cleaned up and running. I hate to get rid of it but I don't see doing anything with it in the next ten years. No sense in building a scooter when I have a Z50.

If I built a cart it would have to be a buggie and would require a 4 cyl sport bike engine. :wink:
