Another website that I USED to frequent.
There's an individual there who seems to take pride in
winning trophies with his RB MG.
I can deal with that, but there are "flipping off"
icons that he seems to enjoy posting, that put me over the-
edge.He does this,just to irritate me.Why?
This person wins a trophy,& has to let everyone
know about it.Why are these people in our group?I love to see people win trophies that don't expect to.I like to see that.
Why are there people who are let down,if they don't
win?Are the stupid,or just insecure?

Just ignore it Doug.

No sense in raising your blood pressure.

JP is correct. He knows how to control you. You are being controled. The only way to not be controled is..well..not be controled.

You let him know you have button that he can press. He pushes the button and gets a response out of you, just like a door bell. Unhook the button and he'll stop pressing it.

Here's an example:

Let's say you see a car for sale...DON'T BUY IT ! :jester:

Seriously, I don't frequent there anymore because Skye...well...isn't Basil.
(I edited that comment out of respect for this forum.)

The thing is Doug, you (just like myself) don't like arses or stupid people.

The problem lies in the fact we are vocal about it...thus letting folks know your (our) buttons...

The world is filled with stupid arses. If we allow the stupid arses of the world to upset us, we'll be upset all the time.

While it's noble to fight the good fight, it does become tiresome.

One cannot fell the forest of ignorance alone armed only with the sharpness of one's wit. We can, however; hack a path in deep enough to lose ourselves.

The only way to win is not to play.

I believe it was Will Rogers who said, "Never argue with an idiot, spectators have trouble telling the difference."

The good news is, "The meek shall inherit the earth"...

...meaning at some point all the other bastages will be dead... :jester:

Well said.

It's all 'bout choosin' yer ditch. That ain't the one I wanna die in!

Clearly that guy is compensating for a huge hole in his life with that behavior. You're just a better person that that Doug. All I can do is repeat what the others have said, make the choice to not allow his behavior to impact your life.

HEY, just 'cause the guy has a rubber bumpered car doesn't mean he has a hole in his life. :jester:

I think the problem is Doug is envious. You see, that's one car Doug can't buy because it isn't for sale. Now if the car was for sale, Doug would love the guy. OH, and if it was a Dakota... :jester:

The black hole known as the comment section after yahoo storys has become the abyss that has swallowed my soul... outter darkness, great weeping and knashing of teeth...

That's why I seldom bother to look at the comments sections of most news sites. Stupidity and ignorance on parade!

I can't figure out if they're more of 'em as I get older or they are easier to see. :confuse:

Perhaps the saddest, most sickening and disheartning thought is; if you lined 'em all up against a wall... you wouldn't have enough bullets. :frown: :jester:

The only "trophy" my car ever won was the "did you see that?" comment I got from a young man Friday when I opened my beer bottle with the door striker pin. the older guy he was with came back with "We used to do that all the time.". I then grinned, filled my mug, and wandered off to listen to the band. no DWI was involved...
Well?!.... the event was a historical reenactment. I was Just trying to add flavor..
Lots more fun that taking flak from some pompus idjut with a naderized "B"
Disclaimer: RB MGBs are good cars too. I'm just picking.

Basil, this thread EXEMPLIFIES why our community needs the British Car Forum. I visit the other website in question and, to me, it is like reading the Weekly World News or the National Enquirer. Quick sound bites, often mindless comments, quantity over quality. When I want substance and quality, I come here and I come here as often as my life will permit! (Often to my wife's chagrin)

I SERIOUSLY doubt I would have been able to find a job, have received the outpouring of sympathy, care and support I received when my brother died, or have had the same assistance I received when I was looking for my MGB on ANY other site but this one.

So Basil, when the weight of the world is extra heavy and keeping this site going seems overwhelming, please remember that you have created something extraordinary here. The standards you have set are second to none and should be a role model for any other site that wants to be worth anything.

To repeat the question from the MG forum here - Do we really need this forum?

In a word - YES.

Thanks for the kind comments - I've been irritated with
myself when I "get into it",& respond with negative comments
to people like that.
I thank Basil for keeping me from doing things like that
here - it seems to stop things before they get elevated.
I was OK with this person, until they posted on winning a
trophy,& made a rude comment directed towards me,& used the -
"flipping off" icons repeatedly. Those icions,to me,are just rude,
& show people's immutarity. Most of us aren't in high school anymore,
but you wouldn't know it.
I'm usually a very easy going person, who will go out of my way
to help others,if I'm able to,but I hate it when I get pushed too far,
& respond with unkind comments.I feel really bad later.
I also hate it when people post pointless questions, like "If your-
car wasn't Red,what color would it be?".And I thought that I had no life!
Thanks for letting me vent.

- Doug

I'd have sworn that Doc posted that statement, I really would. Mickey, is yer bro hacking your account again? Hes rubbing off on you!

If it's any consolation - the main reason I have the rules I do is to protect all of you from ME! (no, really).

My Dad Always told me: Don't smell the sweaty stuff.

BTW- how come we do not have "flip off" icons?

It's too bad that forums do not have a "hide" feature....then you wouldn't have to see posts from individuals who irritate you.

Doug....don't let this individual(s) stand in your way of enjoying your car or other friends. Don't miss attending Corvalis in 2013 because of him/them. Don't sell your GT because of him/them.

Don't let him become an obsession; all he/they are is a pimple on the face of life's journey.....and pimples tend to go away.
