TR6 Running Rich - next step?

I hate to complicate matters, but it sounds like you might have something other than a carb problem. In my experience the cars aren't that sensitive to carb mixture adjustments, they will run with mixture off, just not as well.

Guy from the club brought his TR6 to my house to look at the rear suspension on a lift. Car died as he pulled up. We messed with a lot of stuff. Turned out to be the new rotor that was put on as part of a recent tune up. Not saying it is your rotor, just new or replaced doesn't necessarily mean good.

A quick recap: 1975 Triumph TR6
- new coil
- new high torque starter
- 6 new spark plugs
- new fuel pump
- new fuel filter
- 2 new carb rebuild kits
- confirmed good fuel flow to carbs
- 2 new carb floats
- 2 new metering needles and screw assembly

Installed the metering needles yesterday and fired the engine. It started pretty quick and ran for about 5 minutes. I started to initiate the throttle and it responded pretty well. Of course, I had to push my luck and gave it a few good pumps. Not sure if I flooded or starved the engine, but it stalled. I've had no luck restarting, but I can get 1-2 firings. I've adjusted the metering needles both ways and have since brought them back to the recommended 1 1/4 start point.
I'm headed down to the hardware store for a muffler belt and maybe a box of RPMs. Other than that, does anyone have any next thoughts? I really am not looking forward to 2 new carburetors!
 
You are going to have to find out why the engine died and refused to restart..As of yet you haven't done that.
Once you do, the fix will probably be fairly easy
