Rounded teeth laygear mesh with chamfered teeth?

Gearbox question. I have a laygear (AEC3616) with I assume rounded teeth. Can I use the first gear assembly AEC3566 (8G3013) which is noted as having chamfered teeth here: reference table for Healey Gearbox part Numbers

The part number for the 1st gear assembly on some resellers sites shows it to fit earlier years; including 100-6. Confused, is this a replacement part for "when supplies are exhausted" that will interchange with the earlier laygears?

Called Leo Ruof, and he said yes, they are compatible. He also said that all 1st gear assemblies, including the BJ8s, will work on side shift 4 speeds.
