Hey all just stopped by to say hi. I'm building a rotary sprite and will need lots of help getting her complete. I'll add photos as I'm allowed and I'll be looking for advice as well. Thanks Dave

1987 13B.

Hi Dave - we had a guy with an evil build (in a good way) and it was screamer. Let us know how she is coming together.

Yeah, at 1300lbs and 160 horse I guess evil will fits pretty well. I'm currently rewiring the entire car. Thanks Dave.

Good luck with the project. Looks like a good one, and should be a real hoot to drive once it's all sorted out.

Nothing at the moment. I'm going to replace it with a cut down old school RX-3 or 4 rear-end. For now I'm having a shaft made with the stock rear universal welded to shorten RX-7 shaft. As it turns out the old Bugeye rear-end and gearing is pretty rugged. Also the lack of grip and skinny tirse do not transfer to much force to the rear end, it just eats tires if you are not careful wit the clutch.

Thanks Drew, actually all the hard stuff (cutting, welding, body work, cleaning, wiring, and fittings) are done. Now its all about the money for finishings. I'm doing the interior now! I'll keep you posted.

That thing on the back, is it a woofer? an afterburner or an emergency audio braking system :jester:

..that's too funny !!!!

LOL, actually it's an access hole to the Jaz cell, fuel pumps and shutoff switch. The little tank it came with was not big enough to support the thirst of a rotary, so I put a 15 gallon Jaz cell in the back and installed a fire wall to separate me from the fuel. The hole will be filled with an Austin Crest inlay cover. I put a speaker grill over it for now to keep the critters out while I build.

Bass not needed as the rotary should make more than enough noise,LOL. Here a pic of the mount you mentioned.

Hey Aeron, yeah it's gonna be a street car. I did not know about the Mite or the RX Midget that is good stuff and will help out a lot thank you. Hope I can do burnouts like that, look fun. Dave

This weekend. Clean and paint.

Dave, I think you'll find that although the stock differential is indeed pretty strong, the half shafts are not, that's usually the weak link. And of course the gear ratios might leave something to be desired as well, a 3.7 is the highest available for that axle. Looks good though, good workmanship throughout. Hope you'll post on the British V8 Newsletter site as well when it's done, we need more Spridgets represented there. https://www.britishv8.org/Photos-Austin-Healey-Conversions.htm
Don't let the name fool you, all conversions are more than welcome.
