Reproduction tachometer drive quality?

I got an estimate of about $100 to rebuild my tach drive (the part the shaft turns through is worn, so it is not something I can repair). I checked Moss and it costs about $80 for a reproduction tach drive. I admit I am always leary about reproductions. Any advice on which way to go?

Rebuild! Unless the quality has greatly improved the reproductions are IMHO junk!
I have a spare and managed to make a good one out of 2 bad or I would eliminate the mechanical drive before fitting the new replacement.
A replacement drive came on my BE but parts stash saved me!

I also wanted an OEM unit for my rebuild. I bought one, opened it up greased it, put it back together. It lasted about 20 seconds when I first started my car....flung it across the garage. I bought a moss unit, and it has been fine ever since!

I separated a BE tach drive, cleaned it up, redrilled the fastener holes, lubed it up with molybdenum grease, used small bolts to assemble it and it has been working well for a couple of years now.
