My wife really does love driving with me in this car!

I'm here only because my SO bought a Spitfire (my idea, against my better judgement...). Now I have one of my own... I guess I'm jsut a glutton for punishment...

That's great, Ian!

There ARE actually femmes who purchase, own, and wrench their LBCs,but there aren't many.

I met a nice 50ish lady here in town who drives a TR-6 for her everyday driver. She commutes about 6 miles each way five days a week. Said her TR-6 underwent a total, frame-off resto right before she bought it about six years ago.

Unusual to see women driving these cars. I think it illustrates that males are the superior gender.

But, don't tell my wife I said that . . . :nonod:

Nice pictures, Ian. Are those first 2 scans of older pictures (pre digicams)?
The second half of the 1970s, when digicams were probably still being invented and the prototypes were the size of a small room.

Thanks Kodanja. The first 2 pictures (plus one of my Elan Sprint) are what got us back in to these cars just over 2 years ago. We had dug the pictures out to show friends what real cars were like back in the day on the other side of the pond. 1 week later I got chatting to an MGB owner, which got me thinking about these cars again. The next week I went to a local Brit car show (my first in over 25 years) just to kill some time and was amazed to see the volume and variety of these cars in my local area. 2 weeks later I saw an ad for a barn find red 1962 TR4, so I figured that was just too much of a coincidence to ignore and the rest is history as they say. My wife still loves going for long drives in the car.

Hi all, thought I'd give my 2 cents.
My wife didn't get to ride in the spit to Mid-Ohio in June, I still have not heard the end of it.

BTW sail, that's a nice Lightning, I partly learned to sail in one. My Dad's was # 653, I believe it's dirt now. My wife is also an avid sailor we had a Cat 22 for a while, now down to a Newport surprise.

Funny post! I can't speak for all ladies out there, but I personally prefer to drive a Triumph as opposed to being a passenger. Maybe it is time for you to scoot over and let your lady-friends take control. Triumphs are for girls, too! Have a great one and happy motoring.

Splutter, cough, grunt and harrumph... That's what Miatas are for. If we give in on this one they will want the vote next.

In jest, but ducks and runs for cover just in case.

I first rode in my boyfriend's MGB in the early 80's and loved that car..(Got rid of him though)
My husband and the boys all prefer the Camaro,Z cars and Supras. I'm the one who wanted an LBC mainly because I wanted a small, quick, convertable.
But I have to agree that I seem to be in the minority among my gender...most seem to just give me that look when I offer to drive...like "are you kidding the wind will muss my pretty hair" I guess I could put the top up, but I sort of live by the idea that the top is only there for when I park it just in case it rains.
I'm actually playing with the idea of not even putting a top on my B since I have a tonneau cover for it.

So how did you end up with an MG

I can't say anything, but let them drive it. Our's still technically my wife's car. She's the original buyer and put 50,000 of the 57,000 original miles on it herself.

Although she is a bit afraid of the power it has now with the new engine installed....
