Reluctant female passengers

Scott_Hower said:
My wife encourages my hobby, but hates my cars :frown:

She has ridden in the MG precisely one time...

"Is is always this loud?"
"What's that smell?"
"Does the top go up?"
"I'm cold..."

A cute blonde at the gas station once asked me to pop the hood.
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

BTW, the car in the middle doesn't appear a low output version 3-series.

I can't say I have every had that problem. Most female passengers seem keen to go for a ride and then laugh and scream when they are in my TR and are shaking when they get out! Come to think of it not many of them have asked to go for a second ride!

Thanks. It's not an M3, but a 330i "ZHP" (aka M Sport 2 in the EU). It has M cams and exhaust, 6 speed, a lower drive diff and some other go-fast goodies. Sort of like a poor man's M3 4-door. It will scoot to 60 in under 6 seconds.

Next to a 944, the E46 BMW is the most balanced car I've ever driven. I'll probably never sell it.

Spectacular boat. And nice family too.

My wife is the daughter of a car nut. My father in law has owned an MGYT, Austin Devon, Sunbeam Rapier, but is now deeply involved in Model A's and T's.

Most of the time, she is willing to "go for a ride" unless she has something going on with her hair.

I guess I am fortunate.

Oh wow!! I like cod (bacalao) so much!!
We rarely get any except in a restaurant.

I'll swap you some fresh cod for some fresh mahi mahi!!

seems to me that reverse psychology works, that is if you want them to ride, tell them they cant go and then they will want to, even a better Idea, take out the passenger seat and replace it with 500 watt amp and subwoofer, then you wont hear the rattles oof the car. and besides I like riding around solo, but I am single now since I just dumped my last girl friend for that reason, we took the 6 out for a ride and all she complained about was its cold and messing up her hair, I drove around the block told her she could get out and I said the last 2 months were fun, GOODby( she had more issues that I didnt care for, that was the last one I could take, Now that I am back on Match.com I make sure they know I have a british sports car and when they ask, do you read books I tell them yes the Bently manual for british cars......Living the dream!!!

I gave her a ride between sets and she whooped the whole time. I do have to say that I think TRnorwegian is right. Women like that club owner are largely in the minority -- though they do exist...

I guess my wife is one in that minority. She didn't know anything about cars until we started dating and going to car shows. She fell in love with TR3's and wants to get one of her own. I took her for a ride in mine with the top down this Monday and she's sill smiling. She can't wait till it starts to warm up next spring so we can drop off the kids with her grandmother and I can start to teach her how to drive it. She won't even consider driving it with the top up, it has to have the top down always!

Way to go! Good luck on match.com

My GF hates hates hates my 8. Hated my FHC, Hates my DHC. But that is ok, my dog loves driving with me with the top down. He never complains about where we are going or how long we stay as long as we stop occasionally to smell the flowers, and water them. In return, I make sure we get a Wendy's Bacon Jr Cheese burger (plain).

Wife loves the Wedge, 15 Y.O. daughter despises it

Norwayman!!

I enjoyed your photobucket show very much.
The beaches in Norway look identical to our
beaches here in Puerto Rico. I particularly
like the shot of the blue TR6 on the beach.
It makes me think of home.

Your wood boats are downright breath taking.
There are a few other boaters here at BCF.

Here is a photo of my TR6 set up for fishing.
Nice Tee-top and 2 rod holders for tuna sticks.

regards,

dale

My wife succeeded in locking herself into the Herald the one time she drove it. She has held this against the car ever since.

lovely boat. the shoreline. very nice. i will go there. not today. the question of trailering the lightning, which by the way is a Lippencott, almost as satisfing to say as Laycock de Normanville, used to go all over but now mostly stays at a nice state park 20 minutes away, boat dry, $125 a year. cover off, sails on, back it in, go sail, home for lunch.
but the good thing since there is not a lake at the end of my driveway is that...
i got a cool tr. any day, any time, as long as i don't have it torn apart....

Dale, I can easily understand you found the scenery and "TR on the beach"-picture appealing. And yes, nice beach, I agree

The old 10m (sailboat) is actually named "Tarpon" (was built in Norway in 1912 and delivered a russian minister who escaped from the revolution in 1917 in this boat). You probably like the name Tarpon.

Your sun-roof looks innovative, like a real break-through designwise.
You need only a solid outboard on the rear.
I guess you long to take your fresh-from-rebuild-TR out fishing. A few advices: Check your rubber seals in the doors, apply some rust protecion on the lower part of the car, perhaps bring an inflatable life raft in case you overlooked a potential leak. Happy sailing!

Flatbed = Flatbed trailer for towing lol

Seems you have applied a number of clear coats as well. Your Brithish racing green has a very nice, deep glow.

So you had a few roadside breakdowns? Is your good looking TR6 only....good looking?
