Red Line MT-90

I have been staring at 4 quarts of Red Line MT-90 sitting on the shelf for months. Just too lazy to crawl under my BN2 Healey with four speed & OD & drain it.

Finally did the deed & changed the fluid. Others have said that it seems to give smoother, quicker shifting than the original factory recommended SAE 20 motor oil. Surprise - surprise - It really does. The transmission shifts with less force required on the shifter & noticeably quicker. OD works the same (perfectly) as before. Should have changed months ago.

I'm sure that it has to do with the MT-90 letting the synchro rings grab more quickly & harder. Who'd have thought it? Only several folks on this forum who have already said it.

Before I swapped gearboxes I did the same thing on my GT6 3 rail. Drained the old fluid (very ugly stuff) and put the MT90 in.

I noticed a significant difference. Less gear noise/whine also, with noticably smoother shifting.

It's great to encounter such an easy fix.

I, too, have switched to MT-90 and have noticed improved performance - either that or a tremendous "placebo effect" is going on here!

I don't think that it was placebo effect in my case. I was very suspicious of the claims & didn't expect much. My only problem is that it leaks about 1 quart a year of the expensive stuff.
