Do a search on here; I posted some pictures of a simple puller I made over thirty (yes, 30+) years ago.

Simple

Thanks Randy I wish I lived closer to Ohio so I could shake your hand and say thanks. I am guessing you might have quite a shop as well. I pulled the rear main by making a plate to spread across the bearing half and onto the seating surface for the pan. I then used the two pan bolt holes located in the bearing as pull points. I first had nuts on each end to stand the plate off the pan surface. Pulled up the two bolts until they bottomed out. second height with sockets on end, higher sockets and so-on.

Well, you sure were on the right track; a half hour ago, I found these pictures after going through literally hundreds of pages of online pictures.

OK I am a little slow right now and at a total loss here. What exactly is this puller for?

The main bearing caps are a pretty tight fit__side to side__in the block; #s 1 & 4 in particular.

That fixture will extract them; #s 1, 2 & 3 with the 1/2 stud, and #4 with the pipe thread adapter on the stud (the internal thread is 1/2" SAE fine).

The same fixture (less the adapter, IIRC) also works on the MGB block (3 or 5 main).

Using a hammer to remove the main caps is expressly NOT recommended.

wow 1/2" NPT who would a thunk it? I was looking for 13/16" X 14T/". That would-A bunged things up. The photo shows two holes that probably line up with the pan bolt holes. 3 points of pull. The mod to the 1/2" NPT bush must be 1/2"X20 tap-out BRILLENT. My grandfather was an inventor who lived in Geneva and invented the first machine for making auto radiators, finned tubing & the accelerator pedal to mention just a few. I have the original patents in his safe as well as his leather belt driven lathe and drill press both from the 1800's & operational(Geza M. Horvath).
