Rear License Plate & Lighting

I'm going without bumpers on a BJ7. Does someone have detailed pictures of their rear license plate/light assembly on a 100-4? I'm trying to understand if the license plate light afixes to the rear body, or is it the license plate frame attaches to the body and the light attaches to the license plate frame.

Thanks!

Charlie

On the early cars, the lamp assembly, item 20, Mounts to the inside of the rear bumper via welded in brackets & studs, see:

The number plate mounts to the rear body on a bracket, item 47, see:

Also shown is the lamp bracket, item 49, which bolts to the studs welded inside the bumper.

The wiring is two pigtails that exit the rear body through a grommet & connect to the lamp.

The later cars used a slightly different arrangement:

In either case, the lamp could be mounted to the body instead of to the bumper via a suitable bracket & the number plate also mounted to the body.

Attached is a pic of the lamp mounted to the body.

Part 47 should be the bracket to bring everything together.

What confused me was the '53 I owned had the lamp & bracket attached to the body, not the bumper. I know this because at one point I ran the car without bumpers and I never touched the lamp, or number bracket. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of that area to refresh my memory.

Thank you, Dave!
